Privacy & Data Handling Policy
Effective Date: October 31, 2026 • Platform: Pythos AI (LANZAR Educational Initiative)
1. Anonymous-by-Default Usage
Pythos is designed so students can solve math and physics problems, use all interactive calculators and graphers, and explore the 17-experiment Simulation Lab 100% anonymously without creating an account. When you use Pythos anonymously, your session state stays in your browser memory and is never linked to a personal profile.
2. Optional Sign-In (Google & LANZAR ID)
Signing in with Google or LANZAR ID is strictly optional and is used only to:
- Synchronize your saved math and physics conversation history across your devices.
- Maintain your optional Personal Memory learning preferences (such as your current math course or preferred explanation style).
Account creation never requires subscribing to marketing emails. Our optional mailing-list checkbox is unchecked by default, records explicit consent timestamps, and supports immediate one-click unsubscribe at any time.
3. Student Control Over Personal Memory & Chat Archives
Signed-in students have complete transparency and control over what Pythos remembers:
- Click the 🧠 Personal Memory button in the sidebar to view every saved learning preference.
- Edit or delete individual memory items at any time.
- Click 🗑️ Forget Everything (`POST /api/memory/clear`) to permanently erase all personal memory records immediately.
- Delete any saved conversation session from the sidebar history with a single click.
4. Homework Images & Problem Reports
When you attach a photo of a homework problem or diagram, the image is compressed locally in your browser and transmitted over encrypted HTTPS solely to transcribe and analyze the mathematical problem. Raw base64 image payloads are automatically stripped before conversation history is saved to cloud storage.
Discrepancy reports (`🐞 Report`) are submitted only when you explicitly click the Report button to flag a mathematical error for verifier calibration.
5. Telemetry & Strict Clarity Masking
To diagnose layout bugs across screen sizes, Pythos uses Microsoft Clarity with strict privacy masking (`data-clarity-mask="true"`) applied to all student input fields (`#userInput`), conversation logs (`#output`), uploaded image strips (`#pendingImagesStrip`), sidebar chat history (`#chatHistoryList`), personal memory modals (`#pythosMemoryModal`), and floating tool windows. Your problem text and homework content are masked from analytics inspection.
